Do I need a skin test, even if I have been colouring my hair for years?

Yes, a skin test is always required if you are a new client of Sheen Salon, new to Natulique colour, or if it has been more than six months since your last colour service with us. At Sheen, we adhere strictly to the safety guidelines provided by our colour manufacturers to ensure the well-being of our clients.

Even if you’ve been colouring your hair for years, either at home or in another salon, the ingredients in hair colour products can vary and change over time. This means that a skin test is essential to prevent any potential allergic reactions, which, although rare, can be severe and may require hospitalization.

All new clients or those new to a colour service at Sheen are asked to attend a 5-step expert consultation. During this consultation, we perform five simple hair and skin tests, including strand, elasticity, porosity, incompatibility, and skin tests, to ensure your hair is in the right condition for colouring so we can adapt our technique to provide the best desired results and keep your hair integrity. At this consultation we listen to your hair goals, analyse your hair and scalp condition, and discuss any pre-service treatments that might be required.

This consultation must be completed at least 48 hours before your appointment.

Please note, that if it has been more than six months since your last colour service with us, or if you are changing colour services, you may also be required to have a skin test.
